Barwick Hall – Flooring Preparation and Installation

Highlights

At Salagean Flooring, we believe that thorough preparation is the foundation of every successful flooring project. For Barwick Hall, this principle was essential.

The Challenge

We began by removing the existing damaged floor and carrying out a full grinding of the entire area to achieve a smooth, clean surface. Because the previous flooring had suffered from dampness, preventing future water damage became a key priority. During our assessment, we identified multiple cracks in the concrete substrate, particularly around doors and windows. Each of these was carefully sealed with bitumen to prevent any risk of water infiltration.

Our Solution

To further protect against damp, we applied two coats of Sika damp-proof membrane across the whole area. This provided a strong barrier and ensured the new installation would have a stable, protected base. After allowing the subfloor to settle, we began the installation process, measuring and cutting with precision, applying the correct adhesive, and laying the flooring to the highest standard.

Once installation was complete, the floor was thoroughly cleaned before being finished with one coat of high-traffic varnish. This final step not only enhanced the appearance but also added long-lasting durability and protection.

The Outcome

The result is a flawless, resilient floor that combines beauty with practicality, ensuring Barwick Hall has a surface that will stand up to heavy use for years to come.
